My guinea pig in these last few days is looking sad. what could it be?

he is eating but he is not acting normally. he is staying quitely in his cage and not getting out as usual.
Answers:
he is dying of loneliness
Sounds depressed, maybe it needs a friend! or a good anti-depressant.
maybe he's sick
Maybe he needs a check up at the vet's
You should take your piggie to the vet.is its head facing into his hut? If yes, your pig may be sick and needs vet help. You can tell when they get sick, they will stay in their hut with their face to the back not facing out.
I understand your worries! When I had "pigs" they were always very active! To help you, please consider trying this:
when my pigs seemed "sad", I gave them Tang to drink. I mixed it right into the water in their tubes and they really liked it. Tang has additional vitamins that your pig might be lacking. Mix it like you would to drink youself. Also, pigs really like raw potatos. Give them some cut up. Keep the skins on. Remove at night and throw away. Raw potatos have vitimins too. Whatever you do, do not give him things that give gas as pigs don't "fart" and that can do more harm then good.
I hope that helps your pig. Enjoy your day.
he's bored.
DON'T FEED YOUR PIGGIE TANG BECAUSE OF THE SUGAR CONTENT, AND DON'T FEED IT POTATOES.
I would suggest a check up at the vets. Most piggies become less active when they get older. The piggie could be getting sick though. It could be from not getting the right nutrients. Check the webs below to see if you are properly taking care of the piggie.
Mine are all over 6 years old. It's a lot of special care to keep them healthy.
I agree--no tang or raw potatoes! Check to make sure that your pig is getting enough vitamin C. They can't produce this naturally and need plenty of it. I buy a supplement (at the pet store, free of sugar) and add it to their water daily.
They also need plenty of variety in their diets and consider this a treat. And treats always perk up my piggies. Timothy hay is something they all go crazy over, so pick up a bag of that, and if he still seems upset, then definitely get him to the vet.
Pigs are very social animals, and shouldn't be purchased alone, they like companionship. So if your pig is caged alone he could be depressed and/or bored. It could be that he simply needs more attention from you.
Here's a few excellent websites on guinea pigs, hope they give you some good info -
