My hamster has been healing form wet tail. Do you think if I follow the vets order he'll get trough it?

He is still looking very bug eyed and bummmed out but is moving more and eating more. When I first got back from the vet he would not eat or take his medicine as I had to force it. Now he takes it. I am very worried as im super attached to him. If anyone knows anything that will help please awnswer.

hi ihave 25 hamster i have lost a few to wet tail, but i have also had surviors. be sure NOT to use dritale it is killer! it removes vital bacterias in the gut menat to digest food. your vet should ahve perscribed benebac.. a medicine that restores benifical bacterias that fight infetcions. another thing to do is dont vary his diet and DO not give him any vegetables. keep him well hydrated with a mixture of 50% unflavored pedyalite and 50 % spring water to help rehydrate him. high protien and fiber is important too try giving plain cheerios as a treat. they are high in fiber and he will like them after he takes his medicine.

as i said i have a lot of experience. check out my website for more information: http://ww.hamsterhealth.bigbig.com.
dumb question always listen to the vet, they know best.
I have a question What is wet tail?? I had hamsters before but non e of them ever got sick..
no
If he's eating more and taking his medicine, that's a very good sign. He will probably be looking kind of awful for a while, since he's been so ill, but as he seems to be recovering, that's great as most hamsters with wet tail deteriorate fast and don't usually recover at all. I don't know much that you could do to help. Just make sure that he's at a comfortable temp, that his cage is super clean and that his water bottle is washed out with hot water(preferably in the dishwasher) every day. I think he will be fine. Good luck!
You bet he'll get through. He is already showing you the signs of well being. What a lucky hamster to have such a diligent and caring owner. He knows it too cause love is the best medicine of all.
stress %26 a poor diet r what cause wettail in the first place, so make sure he's in a quiet, draft-free area with no direct sunlight. dont wake him unless its to give medicine. talk to him and visit him but dont handle him for now. make sure u cleaned his cage well so the germs are all gone---u can use vinegar, hot water, %26 baking soda. no fresh fruit or veggies until hes back to normal. u can add 50% childrens plain pedialyte %26 50% water to his bottle to help with dehydration. make sure his food says at least 15% protein and make suer his bedding is carefresh or aspen.

good luck! i wish him well! they usually die within 48 hrs of onset of symptoms without treatment so if he's passed that--bravo! im glad u took him to the vet!
Well you should listen to the vet. If he is eating that means he is starting to get better. So don't worry just follow that vets orders and he will be fine.
