My hamster flings his poo outside of the cage. Is that normal?

I clean it out several times a day. But when I'm not around. POO!

It is normal. Either place news papers around the cage or get one with a high plastic barrier. Unless you have 2 sand pits for the hamsters, usually they will just poo anywhere and when they are digging around, it is inevitable that the shavings along with the poo, will fly out of the cage.
I have a hamster and he doesnt fling poo around but he probly just wants a clean cage
Not normal behavior. It may be that when you are not around, his cage is not clean enough to suit him.
He's cleaning his house. Leave him alone. You wouldn't want to live in poo!
wow!..that's cool dude i hope i could have some too.that's not normal maybe for an "uneducated" hamster.lol..maybe your hamster's just trying to make its home clean.free from poo..
nope, only unhappy or frustrated animals do that, even though its in a simian's (monkey's) personality to do that - in zoo's experts have noticed that they do it from frustration.
thats nasty how could you live like that get rid of that discusting varmit
your hamster was a monkey in some former life !
Yes, they don't want it in there with them either, Put down a shower curtain and set the cage in the middle when you go. when you come howme it is easy to rinse the curtain and put the cage back in its normal spot.
He's probably helping you clean his cage out, i mean when your not around he probably thinks "I'm not sitting around in this sh*it!!"

Try putting a strong fan facing his cage, then when he throws it out he will know about it when the sh*it hits the fan. ha ha ha!!
THAT IS NORMAL BECAUES MY GERBIL DOES THAT SOMETIMES!!

  1. Try cleaning out the cage every couple days or so. I have a hamster and figured that out. He no longer does that as long as I keep up with keeping his cage clean. Make sure the bedding is at least one inch deep. That might help. Good luck
