Yes, a hamster bite hurts like crazy! The good news is that when hamsters bite, they're not doing it because they're mean or angry. Hamsters don't have very good eyesight, so they rely on their other senses. Sometimes, when they don't know what something is, they'll take a little nip out of it. Other times, the person attempting to pet them or pick them up may be nervous. This, in turn, makes the hamster nervous and when they're nervous, they bite.

I have had many hamsters in my life and have found that when a hamster bites, it's best to continue to hold it. I know that sounds a little weird, especially because it does hurt and the first instinct is to put down something that's hurting you. However, if you pull away or jerk back, it reinforces the idea that you are dangerous to the hamster and makes it more nervous. One she gets the idea that no one's going to hurt her and that she's safe in her new home, she won't bite anymore.
i have two hamsters and bought them as babies they both went to bite me i handled them for 10 minuets a day and a month later they were as tame as anything if a hamster bites you it hurts ive been bitten
Sometimes hamsters will bite if they are bored! Get her a nice multi-level hamster playhouse (you know the ones I mean, I think.all pet stores have them).
Hamsters bite, like everything else with teeth. Young hamsters are not used to people or hands. The more you hold it the more it will get used to you.

Your hamster will bite if it thinks your fingers are food, if you squeeze it, or if they are afraid. Hold your hamster close to its cage and close to the ground--they don't know the difference between six feet off the ground or 6 inches, and they will try to jump out of your hands. Besides getting hurt, your hamster might be afraid of you anything you hold it because it's been dropped. Try to feed your hamster treats before you hold it. If she starts to nibble on your finger, just put her down for a minute. Just be gentle with it and you'll be fine.

Yes, it does hurt, especially if your hamster has big teeth, but it's nothing a band-aid can't fix.
put it away.
