The easiest thing to do if you don't have a live mouse trap is to use a really tall aluminum can or container of some kind, peanut butter and hamster food and some sort of ladder.
You put a gob of peanut butter and seeds in the bottom of the container and have a little "ladder" outside of the container - a way for your hamster to get in.
When he smells the food, he should climb up the ladder and into the can to get the food. But he has no way of getting OUT of the can, so you can just retrieve him in the morning (seeings how he'll be active and looking for food at night).
He's under the couch chewing a hole in the lining so he can get inside the couch. Here's what you need. One of those live mouse traps. I bought one on eBay. I had the mouse alive in that cage within 48 hours of buying it. The trap can't harm the animal. They sent bait with the trap. Good luck!

Here's the exact trap I bought. It works amazingly well.

hate when that happens! but dont fret he wil be ok for a few days. Most likley he has made a home under some thing how do you find him well heres a trick. Dont look for him in the light wait untill dark hamsteres are most active at night, listen carfully around your house there noisy bugers and you may hear scratching follow the sounds. If this dont work put a small bowl of his food in the hallway down off the lights and he may come out. Dont fret to much i had this happin to me lots of times and they allways come out when they get hungry enuf but i have had them missing for up to a week
Mine went all the way down our steep stirs and then hid behind a big chair! They get scared easily so look in places where he might be hiding!
