Sounds like a wood tick to me. it will sit there and eat blood and swell to huge size and tehn burst or let go.
Prob is bites can get infected and ticks can carry disease
If you do not remove it correctly you can leave the head in the host animals body ( your pet) and it will keep eating and regrow.
also if its carrying a disease you will force more of it into your animal by improper removal.
SO if you have no experience taking out ticks Id suggest the VET.. You can try putting a bit of Mineral oil on the tick.. cover it
good.. wait a few minutes and see if it releases. if its full enough it may let go. the oil can kind of smother it.. I would not use any other remedies yuo read about though other than that.
No lighter fluid, alcohol, Tweezers etc.. trry the MINERAL oil and if that does not go see your VET.. even a VET who does not treat Guinea pigs can take a tick off one.. they take them off dogs all the time!
Wont cost much either. In and out!
Dont use any other oil other th an Mineral oil. it is not toxic if your Pig gets a bit of it.
Good Luck

Take it to the vet, I don't want to scare you but that could be a tumour. or a tick, does the guniea pig have access to an outside area?
Probably a TIC. It feeds on blood and can be taken off with tweezers but it will hurt the animal. Best go to a vet.
Eat it quick. It might make another one
Depends how big - it could be a tick which is feeding off your GP blood which would cause itching. It may be a little cyst or something. Pop him up the vets to ask and make sure - they will treat him appropriately for the correct cause rather than guessing on here. I hope your GP gets on fine xx
If it moves it a tick. http://images.search.yahoo.com/search/im.
Can't always see their legs, when they feed.
Could be a tumour.
It sounds like a Tick, these are tiny insect like bugs which attach themselves to mammals. They burrow through the surface of the skin and break into a blood vessel. They then fill up a pouch (jelly bean) like pod which seems to get bigger and bigger.
Don't try to pull it out? The pod will just break away and the critter will carry on drinking.
Go to the vets and they will remove in seconds.
I had them in my head as a kid, whilst on holiday in Scotland. A local farmer dabbed them on the backside with the hot end of his cigarette and they quickly backed out to get away from the heat. Their sheep were full of them, so they knew exactly how to deal with them.
it might be a small infection on your G.P as they are very dirty creatures.if you see any movement on the bean like substance take your G.P to the vet as it might be a growth of something.
it sounds like a tick, take it to the vets and they can give you some flea and tick spray. These like to bury thier heads in the animal skin and suck blood,it might get bigger,if you dont get the whole thing out it will grow again. dont worry it is easy enough to sort out.
the way you described it, its probably a tick. look at it carefully, and see if it has legs near the head where its attached. if you try to remove it, be sure to remove head and all, because if the head is left, it will cause infection.
take it to the vet..it could be a tumor.
Time for a trip to the vet, I wouldnt want to even guess at what it is over the internet without being able to see the problem. Whatever it is, it's making the guinea uncomfortable and unhappy, so time to get a professional to deal with it instead of an internet forum.
it sounds like its time to feed it to my boa constrictor
It's a flee pull it out but if it has got under the skin take it to the vet as soon as possible.
