My dad is a doctor, and I showed him a lump on my gerbil's tail and he told me it was a cyst. He says that it isn't harmful, but I think he might just be reluctant to take the gerbil to a vet.
What do I do? I'm worried that the gerbil will accidentally rupture the cyst and get an infection. Is there anything I can do without taking the gerbil to the vet?

Hi yeah bath the affected area in salt water if it opens.hamster %26 small rodents do get these things %26 they cope very well with most things so unless it is really bad then try %26 deal with it with the salt water that will help if it opens.Regards Jake
