My mini rex is getting pudgy, what should I do?

He has free reign of the house and runs around a lot. He gets unlimited hay, and 1/2 cup of greens daily. He also has his rabbit food. And he's too young to be getting chunky, anyone have any insight?
Answers:
Rabbits should have unlimited hay at all times. If your rabbit has access to free choice rabbit pellets, that's probably what is making him fat. Limit the amount of pellets to no more than 1/8 cup per day. Rabbit's should not be fed anything with a lot of starch such as bread, nuts, seeds, etc. Most rabbits don't like a harness and can make them panic esp. if a dog comes by or there is a loud noise so we don't recommend them.
sounds like it needs more exercise, and less unlimitted hay, and maybe cut down on his rabbit food! get a small halter like one for a small dog or cat, and start taking him on walks, I've seen it done!Have Fun!!
You should cut back on the amount of pellets you give him. What are they made of. If they are come with seeds and dry fruit that will definately make him pudgy. http://www.rabbit.org
Limit his pellets. Since he is a mini, you should cut his pellets to less than 1/4 cup per day. Also he should be getting plain pellets, not that cutsie mix they sell that has colorful bits like corn (bad for rabbits) and peas (again, bad) or nuts (bad).
What type of hay are you feeding? Is is alfalfa-it can make rabbits chubby . Alfalfa is not good for rabbits over 6 months anyway. Feed unlimited amounts of grass hays (bermuda grass, meadow grass. timothy, brome)
Limiting pellets and feeding grass hays along with 1/2 cup of greens should slim him down. If he is still chunky after 4-8 weeks, you can cut his pellets to 1/8 cup or less, but keep up the hay and greens.
