you should take it to the vets just to get it checked out and be on the safe side, it may be something silly like a claw hurting it, but at least it will put your mind at rest and stop the dog from chewing.
The only thing I can think of is that maybe they are getting bitten by some sort of insect that causes their paws to itch. You might take them by the vet and have it checked out.
bring it to a vet since we can't diagnose over the internet.
A friend of mine's dog did exactly the same, and she took it to the vet, who diagnosed it as separation anxiety, and prescribed it prozac (not kidding!)
My dog used to scratch himself raw when he had a thyroid problem. He used to lick his paws alot too. Go to the vet and see if you can put your dog on medication.
He could be allergic to something he is eating, or coming in contact with. The new floor cleaner, Swifter Wet Jet is poisonous to some pets when still wet, once the floor is dry it's fine. A Dalmation will lick their paws raw if the protein content in their food is too high. It could be something simple, have a look around.
it is nothing but itching problem clean it with some water then rub it with towel and put some talc powder

This is called a hot spot. They are quite annoying and rarely go away on their own. They can be caused by nutritional problems, such as feeding your dog crummy food like pedigree or basically any dog food you can buy at a grocery store. The dog will also need some type of a topical treatment or maybe even pills from your vet. I recommend making an appointment with your vet asap and then changing your dogs food to something like wellness, nutro or solid gold. Remember with dog food you get what you pay for. If the first ingredient on the bag of your dog food isn't a meat or if it says by products on the bag.or if it contains yellow corn you shouldn't be feeding it to your dog. Good luck. You can find these foods at pet stores or vets offices.
It could be many things. Examine the paw carefully to see if there are any cuts. Check the nails as well. If they have a sore this is why they are licking it. Also if your dog has allergies they will lick the front paw. Does she have watery eyes,, scratches at ears or mouth alot. Rolls around to scratch her back. If so this could be an allergy or mite. Do you have her on a flea regiment? More details needed but its advisable to see a vet to narrow the possibilities down and start the correct treatment.
you should take them to the vet. the problem might be inside the skin.
I own 5 dogs myself. It could be that the hair in between his paw could be too long and bothering him. If your cat is getting the same thing then I would suggest that you take them to the vet because it could be a contagious infection.
My friends dog does this and she has allergies. The vet gives her a shot and an ointment to put on her paws. Also too like someone else said, if you use floor cleaners, some are poisonous. Pets walk on the wet floors and then they lick their paws and die. Yes it could be the food too.
The best thing to do is go to the vet and have him check everything. You ask the questions and don't depend on him. Tell him what kind of food you use, what kind of floor cleaners you use, etc. Hope this helps you.
Take him to the vet, it is obviously contagious. There is no need to let it spread. It could be mange.
Hello:
Often times when a dog licks his feet it can be associated to dog allergies, however, since your cat is also licking his paw I don't think that 's the problem. Have you done anything different in your home using chemicals such as shampooed your carpets, or put anything on the lawn outside? Are you using a new cat litter and does the dog ever venture inside the litter box? I would defintely try and soak the paw in warm water for a couple of seconds (for both animals, dry it and if it doesn't get better in a day or say, see your vet. Try and think of what you've done differently and see if you can come up with what might be causing the problem. Either way, I would take the animals to the vet vs allowing them to keep licking their feet raw.
Well it could be a prickle or something and once I took my dog for a walk to the pond and when we came back he wouldn't leave his feet alone so we bathed it in salt water and that did the trick but maybe in your case I recommend you take them to the vet.
