if u r using pine or cedar bedding? change it immediately to carefresh or aspen as he may be having an allergic reaction. is the oiliness %26 scratching on his hip spots? sometimes they can become blocked or just itchy. too many seeds/nuts can cause a reaction too as mentioned so make sure u arent giving too many of those. do u see any black specs--mites? if u made the changes and it's still going on take him to a vet.
i think mayb he has a fleas or some sort of skin condision better take him to the vet.
Hi!

I know that from keeping hamsters and rats that oily skin can be caused by too many nuts in his/her diet. Also sunflower seeds. Anything that is a treat and is fed too much can cause oily fur. The oily fur should not cause him to itch though. It may be that your wee man has got some lice which can be casued by nad sawdust or not changing regularly enough. If in any doubt go to vets.
try getting a damp towell ( make sure its not too damp! ) and clean him. he may be scratching alot beacuse his hair is getting all clumped up and he wants to clean it. look under his coat to see if there is anything stuck underneath like shavings or hay. If it gets too bad then take him to a vet! Good Luck! =]
thats just the natural oil so brush its hair
