My dog is 8yrs old and I'm thinking about getting a new pup,do you think they'll get along?
Answers:
The dogs should get along, depending on personality. Just remember, a pup has a lot more energy then your current dog. You also need to keep in mind that your first dog was there first. While newer puppies tend to ask for more attention then your older dog, make sure to set aside time for your 8 year-old. Take a walk with him, or play with him in a seperate room.
Also be sure to introduce the two gradually. If you throw a pup in with an older dog, the puppy will start to annoy the other dog. Don't leave them completely unsupervised for at least a few months.
Well, i think it depends on the type of dog they are and what size they will grow up to be! because i have a golden retriever and a miniature snauzer and they play alot and get along just fine but when it gets out of hand you have to do something about it
It really depends on the activeness of your dog. If he would rather lounge around, and you think he might get upset over a puppy pouncing at him, pulling on his ears n' such.then I'd wait until he lives out his life, before bring home a puppy.
I cuold also suggest getting a dog, instead of a puppy. Less active, so it could work out better that way.
It all depends on the temperament of your 8yr old.
No one can answer this with out the knowledge of the dog you already have.
it depends on wut dog your gettting and 1 thing look at the dogs face 2 see if its nice or not
Is is a girl or boy dog? It is a proven fact, girl and boy dogs get along better than a boy and boy or a girl and a girl. But to answer your question, I think they should be fine just let the 8 yr. old get used to the pup, It may be weird and they may fight at first but they will smooth it out over time. To get your puppy, you should go to your local ASPCA adopt the dogs!

GOOD LUCK!
it depends on what type of dog it is if its a friendly dog then most likely yes and since its getting old it realy shouldnt care.
That may depend on your dog`s personality. A least, a have a dog of the same age as yours and I`m not getting another one. Im` very happy with her. The choice is yours.
My dog Gracie was about 6 y.o. when we got a 5 week old pup(solomon). She had always wanted a companion before. Then when we got Soly she was upset cuse he was getting loved on instead of her. She couldn't stand him at all coming near her. But as he got older (he's 5 y.o. right now)she loosened up and they play together all the time and sometimes when their really cold they share a really small dog bed. So your current dog might not like at first but she'll change or maybe she like having a rambunctious puppy fried around.
Does your dog get along with other dogs on walks, etc? If so they'll get along. But don't get two males. No matter how much they love each other they can fight - even neutered.
depends on your dog. Also 8 years isn't very old if your dog is fed right.
I've never had a problem with my dogs getting along. One thing is the sexes. If you have unfixed males they will fight and possibly kill each other. Stud dogs can get brutal. Just make sure your studs are neutered. Females are usually fine together. Males and females are fine too. Just expect pups if they're not fixed. Yes, even if you think your dog is too old he or she can still make a breed. My 8 year old Cockerspaniel bred before he died. And just because your dog is 8 doesn't mean he or she will necessarily be kicking the bucket quite yet. I have a 7 year old lab mix who still acts like a hyper pup. Nothing is stopping her. Dogs can live up to 25 years old (rare, but possible)! But usually, as the owner, you will know when your dog is about to go. He or she will give you signs. Good luck with the pup hunt and I hope your senior dog lives and prospers to his or her fullest!
i dont know my older dog didnt like the baby pug that we got. i have to keep them seperated.
Is it eight years in dog years or human? Ok well if the new puppy is the same breed they probably will get along if its an other breed i dont know if they will. email me back at anamkhan97@yahoo.com
