My daughters new Hamster wont use the ball.?

We have the Crittertrail cage and the wheel in it is too hard to turn, but we have a ball we put him in. He doesnt seem to like it. He wont run in it. I tried turning it slow enough where he has to move, but when I stop, he stops. What should I do? I believe he is young.
Answers:
Hamsters run at night. They aren't always active when we would like. Try taking it out towards bed time. Also keep other pets and children at a distance. Hamsters are easily scared, they like small safe environments. The more you play with it and the more it is put in the ball the more comfortable it will become.
it's scared of the ball.
He'll warm to it when he gets used to the surroundings and when he doesn't feel threatened, also when he gets bigger he'll be more interested in running around.
As the other person said, he is scared of the ball. Put him in it a couple times a week and he'll get use to it. And the critter trail wheels never work, you need to buy a new one if he likes to run in it.
