my daughter has a teddy bear hampster need advice?

she carries the hampster everywhere and holds it all the time is this ok for it or does she need to stop i don't want her to kill it
Answers:
the actual holding won't kill it, unless she squeezes too tight. the problem is they squirm a lot and dont like to be held and will try to get away and may even bite to do so. she could then drop it which can kill it unless she's sitting on the couch or ground or it could then run away. make sure she washes her hands well before getting him as hamsters can catch colds if she's sick. i would definitely not allow it outside the home. only at home %26 inside. this is an easy rule to make. also they like to sleep in the day and if she is forcing it to stay awake she's stressing it. stress shortens their life. if she likes it this much she will be quite sad if it dies within weeks. the best time is in the early morning or late evening when they're awake already. u should have set times that u allow her to hold it %26 explain to her why she can't all the time. buy it a hamster ball. they like to run in that while theyre awake---usually thats pretty late though %26 she may be in bed. but he still needs this important exercise so u can supervise him. put tape on the lid for added protection and let him go.

so the answer is holding can indirectly kill him.
Tell her to wash her hands before eating that should be the first of your worries.
Let her determine her way in life. It is necessary now as well as when she is 17.
she should stop it quley as possably
Just makes sure she cleans her hands alot. Her and the Hamster will form a great friendship which will make be able to take care of animals and other things other than herself. She will be able to make friends easier.
make sure that she does not bring it with her in public. if she brinigs it everywhere she night get it lost. and make sure she does not sleap with it at night because she might lose her hamster in bed.
good luck i hope i answered your question.
My son had a Teddy bear hamster, he took it with him every where; to the supermarket, to the movies, everywhere, at home he hold it all the time. (my son was always very careful and gentle with it) everyday around 6 pm we let the hamster on the floor and it could be free around the house. when we called it by its name he came back to us. Unfortunately it died 6 months ago he was old and got sick) (he was 4 1/2 years old)I think you should let your daughter handle the hamster as long as she is gentle with it that`s the only way the hamster is going to get to know her and enjoy being around her and let itself pet.
its okay, but hamsters need ssome time of their own sometimes just like we do. A few hours a day is good
No they like to be held, but if he seems really squirmy like he wants to be put down then thats a good time to put him down. Just make sure she doesnt drop him or squeeze him too tight, and the hamster should be fine.
Its fine to hold it alot. But dont let her hold it to much, becouse it needs.
sleep
to go potty
to eat
drink
and play
and maybe a little time of its own!

But its just fine to hold it!
