Is there anything wrong? She's my first hamster, and is eating fine and is running around as usual. Any ideas?
Answers:
I've had many hamsters, and I've not experienced this, so I would take your hamster to the Vets asap.
Hope she is okay
she may not be getting enough water.
I think your hamster is turning into a cow and churning it's own butter.
mine was always like this
Thay ain't urine.
Have you recently changed foods? Are you giving her enough greens, Does she have enough water? These can all be part of the problem. Give your hamster a dog treat, you know the little bones, they love them! It's also like a treat for them.
You sure it's urine?
No one's been 'fiddling' with her have they!!??
It could be wet tail. I've had a few hamsters and experienced this. Definitely take her to the vets for a check up just to make sure.
give him a hamster ball put him in it for 15-30min day tell he get thiner and dont feed it so much hamster like to hide food in a coner or a place so they can stock up so give it half of what you been giving it or a 2-3table spoons or take it to a vet
It is worth taking her to a vet to get it checked out. It maybe a lack of nutrients or water. I haven't seen anything like this from any hamsters I have had.
call the vet most are happy to give advice over the phone, this will put your mind at rest at least.
Take it to a vet.
Don't panic! It's worth getting it checked by a vet anyway but take a sample of the urine if you can.
Hamster urine varies greatly depending on the diet. It can vary in colour from almost bright red through to orange, yellow and almost clear. Often it is thick and sludgy so that in itself may be nothing to worry about. If it is a discharge rather than urine then she may just be "in season".
It would be more worrying if you have changed nothing (food, water etc) but the urine itself has changed.
Let it wee in a plastic bowl or similar and task your vet to check it out, but I wouldn't get yourself in a tizz until you've managed that much.
Too much calcium in a rodents diet will make their urine a milky white, thick, and leave a white residue. Too much calcium can also cause painful bladder stones.
Stop giving it so much parsley, spinach, broccoli, or anything else with too much calcium.
If you're not feeding too much of this, you might want to check your tap water for calcium/lime content and either get a filter for the water tap, or give your hamster bottled water.
a urine infection or dehydration can do this go to a vet soon.
take the poor thing to the vets
ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.
